Ordering an Otto & Cake cake is nice and simple. Start by browsing the flavour list and past designs to get a feel for the style, Pinterest can also be a great place to gather inspiration.
Once you’re ready, fill in the order form with as much detail as you can (there’s space to upload inspiration images too). I’ll be in touch within two business days to confirm details, answer any questions, and provide a quote.

For celebration cakes, 2–3 weeks’ notice is ideal. Otto & Cake works with limited availability, so the sooner you enquire, the better. Extra lead time also means more flexibility when sourcing decorations and finishing details (and fewer compromises all round). Orders placed within the week of your event may be limited to what local Palmerston North suppliers have in stock.
For weddings, I recommend booking as early as possible to secure your place. -
Absolutely! Go for your life. There’s no extra charge for mixing flavours.

Not at this stage, but if that ever changes, you’ll be the first to know.
If there’s a particular flavour you’re thinking about, I’m happy to make a mini cake so you can try before committing.

Yes, heart-shaped and square cakes are available by request, alongside our standard round designs. All shapes follow the same Otto & Cake style. Please get in touch to discuss options and pricing.

I have a collection of vegan and allergy-friendly recipes that I’m keen to explore more. That said, these haven’t been tested as extensively as the core menu but if you get in touch we can discuss.
However our kitchen and equipment used are not allergy-free, so there is always a risk of cross-contamination. If you have severe or life-threatening allergies, Otto & Cake may not be the best fit, but I’m always happy to talk things through openly and honestly.

Yes! Cake toppers are a great addition to both wedding and celebration cakes. You’re welcome to organise your own, or I can source one for you if you’d prefer.

For wedding cakes, your florist can either provide florals for me to collect or leave them at the venue to be added on the day. This works well if matching bouquets or arrangements is important to you. Florals supplied by a florist should be taped and wired. Alternatively, I’m happy to source florals for you.
For celebration cakes, I generally source florals myself, but you’re welcome to provide them if you have something specific in mind.

Payment is via bank transfer.
A 20% non-refundable deposit is required within two days of confirming your order to secure your date. The remaining balance is due 14 days before your cake is required.

Pick-up and delivery times are confirmed individually for each order.
For weekend celebrations, pick-up is available Friday afternoon/evening or Saturday morning. There’s no Sunday morning pick-up, but a Saturday collection still means your cake will be fresh and perfect for a Sunday event.
For midweek orders, pick-up between 4:30pm and 8:00pm usually works well. Exact timing will be confirmed when your booking is finalised.
Wedding cake delivery is arranged separately and coordinated with your venue, so that’s one less thing for you to think about on the day.

For celebration cakes, transport is best on the floor of the passenger side or flat in the boot. Make sure there’s nothing around it that could slide or bump. Cakes should never be held on a lap or placed on a seat (trust me on this one, I’ve tried it).
Cakes should always be transported cold. If you’re collecting ahead of your event, move the cake straight from fridge to car, room-temperature cakes are much more likely to shift or slide when you take it to the venue later.
For wedding cakes, delivery is recommended, it saves a lot of stress (and avoids assigning someone the very high-pressure role of cake transporter). -
Cakes are best enjoyed at room temperature. Ideally, let your cake sit in a cool, shaded spot for one to two hours before serving (depending on the weather). Until then, cakes should be kept cold.

Deposits are non-refundable, as outlined in the Terms & Conditions.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please reach out as soon as possible and I’ll do my best to accommodate where availability allows. Decorative elements and ingredients are often ordered shortly after your deposit is received, which is why refunds aren’t possible once a booking has been secured. Full details are included in the Terms & Conditions, provided with your quote.
